We see the development and sustenance of a vibrant community of entertainers and entertainment faculty as being central to the quality of life in any city. Portland, in particular, sits on the brink of an industrial revolution in the entertaining arts. The Circle of Squares seeks to incubate new performers, promoters, musicians, and technicians. All of these trades can work together to create new companies, new works, and most importantly, a new industry livelihood.

The goal is to provide an incubator for the individuals and groups who are on the verge of making a living in the entertainment industry, but can’t afford the space or staff to develop their business.

We expect to see a number of businesses develop from the early stages of this project. We have seen interest in starting a record label, a comedy troupe, theatre troupes, videography studio, audio recording studio, and scenic/ prop shop. Each of these groups will benefit from access to rehearsal space, recording facilities, storage, and the use of shared tools. Also, in order to become truly successful, a new company would benefit from access to office space and shared resources like reception and supplies. Shared recognition from promotions and events. And we can use the hard work of others as motivation to excel.
